As part of the history GCSE course, students are given the opportunity to visit Berlin as part of an educational trip that supports our teaching of ‘Weimar and Nazi Germany’.

The trip includes flights, half board accomodation, all coach travel and insurance. There is also a 1.2% administration fee for the use of ParentPay, which will be included in this price. Staying at the 3* hotel Stabia or similar for 3 nights and coach travel to and from Manchester Airport

The battlefields in Northern France and Belgium are fantastic places to experience the history of The First World War and therefore are popular destinations for school tours. The battlefields provide the perfect setting for out of classroom learning for the GCSE specification looking specifically at Medicine on the Western Front, included in the British Medicine Through time topic. The overall aim of the tour is to create an international experience that is hugely memorable, enjoyable, appropriately challenging, and in every sense, educational.

- Experience the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres and place a wreath from Meols Cop High School
- Games, films and quizzes during the evenings, and free time in Ypres town

Details of Trip: Meols Cop students have been afforded a wonderful opportunity to attend Wimbledon in July 2024. The trip will also include a visit to the Globe theatre and an opportunity to see a production of Wicked! at the West End
The visit will take place on 09.07.2024 leaving school at 05.30am and returning at approximately 11pm on 10.07.23.
The cost for this trip is £306.50, which is to be paid via Parent Pay.
If you wish your child to attend this visit, please complete the consent form and make a deposit payment of £50 on Parent Pay as soon as possible but no later than 09.11.23 in order to secure a place.
Please note that parents/carers are expected to take overall responsibility for the behaviour of their child. Any severe breaches of acceptable behaviour could result in the student being escorted home at the expense of the parent/carer, or parent/carer asked to collect their child.

Amount of Cancellation charge (expressed as a percentage of the total tour cost)
In the event of cancellation by a paying member more than 10 weeks before your tour, usually the deposits can be transferred to a substitute member if one can be found, the only exception being where we have submitted passenger names to the airline.
For cancellations where there is no replacement passenger, deposits are non-refundable.
If your group is travelling with a low-cost airline there is an additional £125 charge for any cancellation to cover costs which will have been paid to the airline.
If any cancellation brings the number of paying passengers below the minimum number required to qualify for a particular price, then the price will be adjusted accordingly.
For air tours, cancellation and/or name change charges may apply in line with the individual airline policy. For cancellations where there is no replacement passenger:
Cancellation charges will apply as follows –
- 70-29 days before your tour: 60%
- 28-15 days before your tour: 80%
- 14 days or less before your tour: 100%
The date of effective cancellation is from the point NST is advised. Cancellation Policy
If you decide to withdraw your child at any stage then you will lose a percentage of the balance in accordance with the travel company’s terms and conditions as below: Outlined below is the period before scheduled departure within which written notification is received by us.
If you withdraw your child from the trip, you will have to pay cancellation charges as follows:

Details of Trip:
The battlefields in Northern France and Belgium are fantastic places to experience the history of The First World War and therefore are popular destinations for school tours. The battlefields provide the perfect setting for out of classroom learning for the GCSE specification looking specifically at Medicine on the Western Front, included in the British Medicine Through time topic. The overall aim of the tour is to create an international experience that is hugely memorable, enjoyable, appropriately challenging, and in every sense, educational.
What’s included:

Each activity is designed to get the most out of the experience. Days are packed with activities and the trip includes:
- Full day trips around the Somme battlefields. This tour will be designed by your teachers and have a Southport focus.
- Visit to the In Flanders Fields Museum, Sanctuary Wood Trench System, Passchendaele Museum, Fricourt German Memorial, Thiepval Memorial and Lochnagar Crater
- Experience the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate in Ypres and place a wreath from Meols Cop High School
- Games, films and quizzes during the evenings, and free time in Ypres town
