RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Our R.E. curriculum cultivates religious literacy through an effective spiral curriculum that builds cognitive pathways and associations. It allows pupils to acquire and develop knowledge and understanding of a variety of religions and world views represented in the United Kingdom. It develops an understanding of the influence of the beliefs, values and traditions on individuals, our locality and other communities, societies and cultures and how these impacts on our daily life.
It equips pupils with essential skills for life and promotes spiritual, cultural, social and moral development and encourages pupils to value all life and take responsibility for themselves and others. It enables pupils to become well rounded global citizens with an appreciation of the vast range of cultural differences in the world.

RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Parents and carers have the statutory right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE). This entitlement applies to pupils in secondary education, and parents/carers do not need to provide a reason for requesting withdrawal. The school is committed to working in partnership with families, and therefore any parent or carer considering withdrawal will be invited to discuss the request with a senior member of staff. This conversation allows the school to clarify the nature and purpose of the RE curriculum and to ensure that parents or carers are fully informed before a final decision is made. However, the decision to withdraw ultimately rests with the parent or carer. Where a pupil is withdrawn from RE, the school will provide appropriate supervision. While pupils will be kept safe and engaged, the school is not required to provide alternative curriculum work during this time. The school respects and upholds the rights of parents and carers in accordance with current legislation.
