Curriculum Intent 

To develop a curriculum which:

  • Is inclusive and diverse that holds wellbeing at its core focusing on physical, mental and social wellbeing. (With reference to local health data). (Knowledge-led)
  • Provides all students to develop physically, emotionally and socially to become well-rounded and confident individuals. (Knowledge-led)
  • Is sequenced that allows students to revisit topics each year in KS3 with a different focus in order to develop physical literacy. (Knowledge-led)
  • Develops confidence and resilience through all lessons as well as in extra-curricular activities. (Knowledge-led)
  • Provides a broad understanding of their own health and wellbeing in order to continue being active post-16. (Knowledge-led)
  • Make cross-curricular links through academic talk, developing numeracy skills and broadening their knowledge of anatomy and physiology. (Knowledge-led)
  • Develops ‘sport capital’ and how sport connects with society. (Diverse experiences)
  • Develops career aspirations in the sports industry. (Diverse experiences)
  • Provides a diverse extra-curricular programme. (Diverse experiences)
  • Includes Literacy is Power at all stages – Using tier 3 terminology to develop oracy and responses in all lessons. (Literacy is Power)
